About

This November, New Democrats from all corners of BC will gather in Victoria for our biennial Convention — our first in-person Convention since the pandemic. This time, our theme is ‘Building a Better Future, Together’.

Join us for a weekend of spirited policy discussions and training sessions as we celebrate our achievements, welcome our new Premier for his first convention as leader, and get organized for the election in Fall 2024.

Our 2023 Convention is taking place in-person at the Victoria Conference Centre, located at 720 Douglas Street in Victoria, BC from Friday, November 17 through Sunday, November 19.

Convention 2023 is taking place on the territory of the Lekwungen-speaking people and the Songhees and Esquimalt First Nations.

Agenda & Speakers

We're pleased to welcome several keynote speakers to Convention 2023, including Premier David Eby, Leader of Canada's NDP Jagmeet Singh and April Sims, President of the Washington State Labour Council, AFL-CIO — plus some special guests joining us for panel discussions and development sessions.

Call for Memorabilia

The BC NDP History Committee is building a memorabilia archive that goes right back to the founding of our party in 1961 and the CCF before that. Do you or someone in your constituency have copies of old election brochures, posters, platforms and pamphlets from previous campaigns. Do you have old copies of the party newspaper 'The Democrat’? Do you have photographs of NDP events that you could share with us?

All these materials are invaluable to telling the story of the BC NDP — from minutes to convention kits to policy papers to buttons and more. We need examples from every corner of the province!

Please bring any memorabilia you no longer want or need to convention, where our Committee will have a table to collect material Friday afternoon and evening, November 17th. Additional times will be announced. Please contribute if you can, and thank you in advance.

Accessibility

We work hard to make BC NDP events accessible. Some of the accessible initiatives you can expect at our Convention include a scent-reduced environment, gender-neutral washrooms and digital documents that can be parsed by screen readers. In the main plenary we will offer an accessible seating section, along with ASL interpretation and captioning services.

Should you have specific accessibility needs, please don’t hesitate to get in touch.
